Awake in Nature - Mental Health

We are nature. We matter. We belong.

Do you ever feel disconnected, separate or like you don’t belong? We might feel this way because over time we have become separated from the natural world. Our wellbeing is intricately interwoven with the wellbeing of the earth. With the busyness of the modern world it is no wonder that sometimes we feel like we don’t fit in.

This is an invitation to step out of our heads and back into our bodies, so we can sense and feel our true nature within and around us. Connecting with our breath connects us with the plants and trees. The coolness of the wind, the stillness and the warmth of the sun can bring peacefulness, safety and help us process difficult emotions.

Meet outdoors whatever the weather. Those who are old or new to mindfulness are positively welcome. Bring your wellies and/or sun hat to the developing community farm - The Fen Farm - in Sompting, West Sussex, being created by Sustainable Sussex and Sompting Estate.

“A human being is a part of the whole called by us ‘universe’, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”
